We're no ordinary lacrosse club. LaxUp was created to leverage the readiness of the Colorado
lacrosse community for opening doors for at-risk kids.
We believe in developing great lacrosse players, but also know that without a deliberate,
comprehensive program to provide structure and guidance in the lives of at-risk kids, lacrosse is
just another sport. So we've created an organization that connects Denver's inner city and at-risk
community (that's hungry for lacrosse) with our dynamic, rapidly-growing lacrosse community, and
most importantly, with academic and growth opportunities.
We're established and growing. We had a tremendous first year in 2011, helping to field three
teams, with many kids who had never played the sport before.
Our two girls teams (4th and 5th grade ) had very successful initial seasons. Despite losing some
early games, the girls learned a lot during their first year and impressed many longtime fans and
followers of the sport. In the Colorado Lacrosse Jamboree (Lacrosse Outreach's annual end of the
season state championship event) the 4th grade team went undefeated to take the trophy as the
state's best. We also founded a boys team with the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver, which for
the first time fielded a team. USLacrosse is enthusiastic about our program and will be helping us
as we grow towards the 2014 World Games.
It won't be easy, but we've already made terrific progress. All of our athletes excelled not only on
the field, but also in the classroom - an equally impressive accomplishment. We depend on
businesses, schools, organizations, and individuals to help us grow. If you are not already
involved, we'd love for you to find a way to help as a volunteer, with a connection, or a donation -
we love donated equipment, too!
